That's right guys! It's the big Valentines day month! I have finally turned 30 and now we can focus on the things that are really important- our hearts. This month I have so many amazing thing planned on zee blog, starting with a little list to make everyone's hearts melt. I spent many valentines day's alone before I met Swoon, and I figured some of you are in the same boat. This is a playlist for all of you who are giving the middle finger to VDAY.

A little love story. It's so bizarre how people assume because you are in a relationship or maybe even, engaged, that somehow the way your heart works, becomes easier. I fully spent the better part of my birthday in tears. I was so bleh about turning 30, and I said to Swoon "please don't make a big deal" so he took that to mean, I didn't want to "do" my birthday, and so he did nothing. Not a thing. Not even a card. I was MORTIFIED. All day I spent looking at him, wondering if my perfect match had somehow forgotten my birthday.

This is just a lesson in boy speak girl speak. It goes like this....

Me: Don't do anything big

What I meant: Make me breakie, flowers, take me to a relaxing spa day, watch movies with me

Swoon: ok

What he heard: Do NOT speak of my brithday at all

So, there you go. Even the happiest ever afters get their heart caught in a downpour of dissapointment sometimes. That's the thing about being a grown up in a relationship, you can't just stomp out and never talk to the person ever again, you have to love them through all their mess ups.
